Job Summary

We are looking for a results-driven Oil Trader to join a dynamic Oil & Gas firm in Ikoyi. This role involves buying and selling crude oil and petroleum products in global markets, with a focus on profitability, market analysis, strategy, and risk management.

Responsibilities

 Market Analysis:

  • Monitor global oil supply/demand trends, pricing, and geopolitical impacts
  • Forecast market movements and identify trading opportunities

Trading Strategy:

  • Develop and execute trading strategies aligned with company goals
  • Continuously assess and refine performance

Trade Execution:

  • Negotiate and execute physical and derivative oil trades (futures, swaps, etc.)
  • Ensure timely execution, delivery, and documentation

Risk Management:

  • Monitor exposure to market, credit, and operational risks
  • Apply hedging techniques to protect profits

Relationship Management:

  • Maintain strong relationships with refiners, brokers, suppliers, and trading partners
  • Lead commercial negotiations and communications

Logistics & Supply Chain:

  • Coordinate with logistics to ensure smooth movement and storage of products
  • Oversee the end-to-end supply chain process

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of all trading activities

Performance Monitoring:

  • Evaluate profitability, trading efficiency, and system performance
  • Recommend enhancements to trading platforms and processes


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field
  • Experience in oil trading, energy markets, or commodities (preferred)
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills
  • Understanding of global oil supply chains and trading regulations
  • Proficiency with trading platforms and risk management tools
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Trading, Risk Management) are a plus
